AU Showcase Lofts
We would like the opportunity to share pictures of your
lofts, and design layout with other flyers, especially our new
flyers. As they enter our sport, we may be of great assistance
while building their first pigeon loft.
Please
send your photographs & layout information and let's
help out our new flyers and interest our veteran flyers.
Showcase Loft Entries
Join the AU Loft Contest. Entrants must be AU
members. The winner will be selected in October,
so you have plenty of time to get some photos submitted. A
brief description will be helpful. The winner will receive
a limited edition print in the AU Convention Series by artist
Jim Brown.

AU’s 2007 Showcase Loft Contest Winner
by Deone Roberts, AU Sport Development
And the winner is . . . Williams Family Loft!
Each year AU members are invited to submit photographs, plans
and descriptions of their lofts for a Showcase Loft Contest. The
lofts help the public understand what is necessary for a race
team setting. It is also fun for members of the sport to compare
designs.
This year’s winner was selected via on-line voting through the
American Racing Pigeon Union web site.
Hurricane Katrina claimed the original Williams Family loft in
2005. Their subsequent loft was destroyed by fire. In true team
fashion, they rebuilt and dubbed their new loft the Grand Palms
Pigeon Resort. The sport is truly a family affair and their
tragedy has turned into triumph. You can view their story at
www.williamsfamilyloft.com. The Williams Loft is also certified
with the AU Loft Certification Program.
The winners will receive a set of convention prints created by
artist Jim Brown, and a plaque proclaiming their win.
Congratulations Williams Family!
“Selecting the winner is tough,” said Karen Clifton, AU
Executive Director. “This year we put the vote to the fanciers
and the public to tell us what they believe is a winning loft
presentation. Looking at all the entries, you will see
attractive buildings and good-looking landscaping that show
sport newcomers, and the public, what healthy housing looks
like. There are some great ideas on the web site.”
Thank you to all participants for the great entries. All of them
showed the quality of care AU members provide for their birds,
reflecting well on the sport!
