AU Youth Race Yields Another Winning Story!
American Racing Pigeon Union announces the 2005 National Youth
Race winner!
This year’s big win goes to Alyssa Whitlock from Watertown,
South Dakota. This year’s race was flown out of Fernley, Nevada
and released at 7:30 a.m. on October 20. At the speed of 1129.580
ypm and first of 15 on the drop, AU 05 LCR 6410 clamped down on
the winner’s place for Alyssa.
Alyssa will receive the winning plaque from the AU and a beautiful
trophy generously provided by Global Pigeon Supply out of
Savannah, Georgia. She will also be invited to attend the 2007 AU
Convention as a guest of the AU.
Her family is no stranger to winning. Her brother Jake won the
2002 National Youth Race and was hosted at the 2003 AU convention.
This year’s win for Alyssa confirms that the sport is a family
affair for the Whitlocks. Moreover, her brother Matt was not too
far behind on this year’s race sheet.
The 2005 AU National Youth Race proved to be a winning combination
all the way around. The race hosts, Cliff and Peggy Wilson,
prepared the back yard and loft to be picture-perfect for race day
attendance. Their daughter Sandy served as race hostess and
provided a feast for everyone. A clever thought throughout the
entire convention was the disposable cameras provided in the
registration bags and at the youth race loft.
Making memories was easy with the youth race turnout, which
included visitors from Canada and Hawaii. AU Executive Director,
Karen Clifton and Lakes Zone Director, Dave Brehm attended, as
well as students from the Eleanor Roosevelt School Racing Pigeon
Program and representatives from California and Wisconsin clubs.
Our thanks to those who made the youth race day a great success!
Congratulations Alyssa!
And congratulations to all the juniors who participated. You are
all winners! Stay tuned to www.pigeon.org
for next year’s exciting plans.
