AU PROCLAIMS APRIL NATIONAL PIGEON AWARENESS MONTH

The month of March kicks off efforts to increase awareness across the nation of the amazing Homing Pigeon.

Clubs are setting up events around the country to familiarize the public with the hobby. The events will showcase the birds, offer informational brochures and feature a brief educational video. Each event will end with a DRAMATIC RELEASE of birds, SIMULTANEOUSLY NATIONWIDE.

This nationwide event is scheduled for March 16. Releases will be at Noon Pacific Time, 1:00 p.m. Mountain, 2:00 p.m. Central and 3:00 p.m. Eastern.

If you are not already a part of the planned event, please call the AU office now to join in. Your club will be competing for a special honor.

Contest

This effort will begin the campaign of pigeon awareness during the month of April. AU members are invited to compete for an honor award for most sport promotional presentations during a month-long contest. Presentations can be in any variety of locations or groups: libraries, schools, civic clubs, youth groups, other hobby clubs, etc. The individual or club can make the presentation as simple or as elaborate they would like. The AU will provide you with materials to help with your presentation.

IT'S EASY. The contest begins with the March 16 release and ends April 30. All you have to do is send a summary of your presentations. Be sure to include the name of the group you visited and when you made your presentation. You might be surprised at gathering a few new members. Let us know! Feel free to share photographs too. Mail your results to the AU office by May 17. The winning club or individual will be selected from these lists. The winner will be announced May 24.
